SMARTin Safety provides a range of safety skills training, that can be delivered at your workplace or at our in-house training facility in Newtown, Victoria. Providing your employees with training in key safety skills, will unlock their potential to better monitor and manage site-based risks.

SWMS Training

SMARTin Safety have developed a practical short-course, to provide your employees with the skills and knowledge to confidently prepare, review and monitor SWMS for employee or contractor activities.

The short-course involves practical and interactive exercises, and is suitable for all levels of the workforce within the building and construction industry.

On completion of this course, participants will:

  • Understand hazard identification, risk assessment and control using the hierarchy of risk controls.
  • Have an understanding of when SWMS are actually required, and what should be included in SWMS.
  • Practice preparing and reviewing SWMS for their workplace, and learn how to simplify SWMS and ensure they are based on high risk construction work activities.
  • Understand how other safety procedures and systems can be used to define safe systems of work for non-high risk work activities.
  • Build the skills and knowledge to monitor the compliance of SWMS, and what actions to take where the SWMS is not being followed.

General OHS Awareness Training

SMARTin Safety have developed a short-course, to provide your employees with an understanding of their roles and responsibilities related to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in the workplace.

Employees will be presented with an overview of employer and employee responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004, including practical examples relevant to their workplace.

Upon completion of this course, participants will:

  • Gain an understanding of employer and employee health and safety responsibilities
  • Understand the key requirements to providing a safe work environment
  • Understand how to apply the term ‘reasonably practicable’
  • Learn what is a ‘notifiable incident’ and how to report these to WorkSafe
